Advisor Virtual Care Systems Design

Dr. Valdes is an expert in the process of delivering health care services virtually. He focuses on educational, scientific, and medical research “proof-of-concept” projects to design and implement health care efficiency models. He is Founder and CEO, Blackspot Labs, L3c and currently maintains a virtual care practice visiting patients throughout Utah and California enabled with state-of-the-art telehealth technologies. He also provides remote consultations and coaching to providers caring for patients aging in place, in nursing homes and in hospital settings. Prior to Blackspot Labs he was Medical Director at Intermountain Healthcare Telehealth Services and their Healthcare Transformation Lab where he developed the strategic vision and design for telehealth technology and concepts to support Intermountain Healthcare’s Shared Accountability goals and mission. As the Medical Director of the University of Illinois Chicago School of Medicine, he pioneered the concept of switching and routing telemedicine video calls to call center telenurses.
He has served as; Chairperson of NIH CTSA Thematic Special Interest Group for telehealth, telemedicine and mHealth, State of Illinois OHIT Telehealth Work Group of Medicine, American Telemedicine Association Research Task Force, CAHIIM sponsored National Health Informatics Education Work Group Committee and was an invited member to Microsoft Health Advisory Council.
